I am graduate in Chemistry and now a stay-at-home dad for my two daughters, tutoring in my spare time. Prior to this I worked for a number of years in Cardiff University as a Research Technician for the Tenovus Centre for Cancer Research. This not only gave me great satisfaction, as I was able to indulge my passion for science, but also gave me a more varied, and practical, background in science, and the application of mathematics, another interest of mine, to these situations. I am currently taking a career break that makes it possible for my wife to continue pursuing her career as a Primary School Teacher, whilst one of us stays at home for our daughters. During this time (being married to a teacher and being a father) I have come to appropriate just how rewarding it is to help children and young people succeed in expanding their knowledge of the world.
Week day evenings from 6pm and weekends (During the school summer holidays I`m also available weekdays before 6pm)
I have been tutoring for about 6 months and in that short time I have help a number of pupils from preparing for their A-level chemistry exams to providing extra support with Key Stage 3 maths. Each pupil having their own individual needs and abilities. I have also benefited from my wife’s years of experience as a primary school teacher. It is inevitable that over the years I have indirectly gain a fair bit of knowledge and insight into education. Knowledge and insight that I am able to use in the service I offer to students. It also makes me very appreciative of the different roles played by teacher and tutor.
